Self as Political, Blogging as Political

I was struck by a thought today of creating an additional blog where I would focus on my political philosophical thoughts - my feminist, decolonial ramblings. But then I caught myself -- there is no need for a separation of self and politics. I am inherently a political being. This blog is inherently a political act. And yeah my interests are multifaceted and I'm multifaceted and this blog is a testimony to the different aspects and interests I have and love.

But I do realize that my readers are multifaceted as well and I appreciate and understand that people have a different interest in visiting my blog and so I decided that I will add tabs to my page to simplify the reading and also because I wanted to play around with the blog page.

Also, I played around with the overall layout as you can see... Love it? Hate it? Let me know :)

I could go on a tangent about beauty standards in Korea... but I won't. My goal is to review the beauty products that I have bought and tried here in Korea. In case you've ever visited Korea or ever plan to visit Korea, one of the first things you will notice is the overabundance of makeup stores -- Etude House, Nature Republic, TheFaceShop, Innisfree, Missha, Saem, It's Skin, Hanskin, Aritaum... the list goes on. Slow Down, I'm Moving Too Fast, You Know You Can't Catch Me

I went home to San Jose this previous weekend with Xuemin and though we didn't do much, except a small barbeque at the house, it was definitely nice just getting away from Berkeley. We tried a new pho restaurant, Pho Que Huoung, oh so disappointing. We also tried Hiro Sushi, also another disappointment (read Xuemin's yelp review for more details). But again, it takes tasting something not so stellar, to know what you consider delicious. We finished moving on to the new summer sublet on Wednesday and though it was a hassle, we have now settled in. At the time, I wasn't really thinking about the distance from campus but as I walked by at 9PM after my class ended, I definitely was conscious of everything -- the darkness, the shadiness, the distance... HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!

I wanted to add some funny or inspirational quote or image. I have nothing. Instead... the below is slightly amusing. In any case, as Thanksgiving was approaching, I realized that this is the first time I have celebrated Thanksgiving away from my family. It was a sobering and sad thought. I'm extremely grateful and thankful to have been blessed with my family and extended family, my friends, my mentors, my experiences, my life. And it needs to be said: I'm thankful to have all of you in my life. And I'm thankful for all your constant support and love. Anyways, what I wanted to say was that I hope everyone, especially all my loved ones (that means you!) will have an amazing, wonderful, joyful Thanksgiving. Hope you can share it with all your loved ones. P.S. If you are going Black Friday shopping, be safe! I looked at the ads, slim pickings this year, but the experience is always fun :) Happy Bargains!
