Bittersweet Day

Today is officially the last day here at Yonsei and in Seoul for many people. Move-out day is tomorrow at 11am. People are packing and saying goodbyes, and it's so bittersweet.

I had my last day of Korean class today -- it felt surreal. Like graduation but not... I think because I'm not leaving tomorrow, I don't feel as sad... But a lot of people I do know are leaving... sad times.

Among the people who made my experience here... I would definitely include my Korean language teacher, Park 선생님... Even though she made fun of me a lot, I feel like she definitely cared about us and wanted us to learn and was excited to teach us. I'll definitely miss her...
I'll also miss Megan :( I almost cried hugging her. The good news is Megan's aunt and uncle live in Berkeley and Megan is from Sacramento, so it's not that far... but still :(

I think I'm going to make a tag "People I'll Miss" haha, so I can reflect and remember.

In other news, today was an amazing day with Nicole... I finally explored Hongdae in the daytime, man does it look different. No drunk people falling over each other and vomiting in the streets... strange. Haha.

Finally went to the Hello Kitty Cafe. Gawd... SOOOO MUCH KITTY. SOOO CUTE. I'll post pictures and a video a little later.

The highlight phrases of the day:

쓰레기 통.
Eat the Kitty. Drink the Kitty. Be the Kitty.
Transcend the Kitty.
EEEEEEEK!!!!! SO CUTEEEEE.

Also, in light of the passing away of Kim Jong-Il... I found this blog posted on a friend's facebook...It was quite thought-provoking to me.

I read this on one of this fellow blogger's other posts, and I quite liked it and so, I'm going to copy it and use it as a mantra:

Live happy, live powerfully, live deeply.

Things They Don't Tell You at Graduation

With my first graduation commencement ceremony this Saturday, I'm starting to get quite worked up. All the details of tickets and parking and dinner and calls and... man. It's complicated business. In light of that, I've been reading a lot. Fell upon this article the other day and it was pretty interesting. It's a list of ten things you aren't told at graduation... a few of my favorites (with bold red font and red font self-added for emphasis): 2. Some of your worst days lie ahead. Graduation is a happy day. But my job is to tell you that if you are going to do anything worthwhile, you will face periods of grinding self-doubt and failure. Be prepared to work through them. I'll spare you my personal details, other than to say that one year after college graduation I had no job, less than $500 in assets, and I was living with an elderly retired couple. The only difference between when I graduated and today is that now no one can afford to retire. ...

Obtainable Goals: Conquering the RSF & Food Finds & Forever21 order

I've decided to switch back or rather add some more easily obtainable goals. One of which is to try every single Group-X exercise class offered by the RSF (the campus gym) at least once by the end of the semester or at the very least, this summer -- although I must say, the caveat might be the aqua classes given I don't have swimwear here and classes in Hearst Gym.... In the past, I have tried: Bollywood -- quite fun but the steps can get complicated Cardio Kickboxing -- whew, what a work out, I couldn't even make it through the whole session Some yoga class but I can't remember which one -- it was so slow, I almost fell asleep This semester, I have tried: Nia -- quite fun, the instructor was super nice and it was a lot about grounding yourself and finding yourself Toning Express -- quite intense and quick too, only 30 minutes! This week alone, I have tried: Power Yoga -- Not bad, not too rigorous either -- there was a focus on aligning your breath with you...

Minor Update While Studying

As I'm currently in the middle of midterms (two midterm papers due in approx. 1.5 days), I don't really have an opportunity to sit and type, but just a minor update. Among my long list of things-to-do (which is still currently sitting in the draft section of my blog and is continually updated but yet to be posted), I've added the goal to be able to successfully sing(/rap...) one of Tablo's songs by the end of the semester. Epik High (the group of which Tablo is a rapper and leader of) was one of the first Korean artists that I was exposed to as a young 6th grader. It was love at first sound... I remember back in the days... Tablo is one of those completely talented, genius type folks that make me go "WOW". Anyways, I digress. He recently released his CD (pt 1, which I am buying asap along with part 2 probably) after a 2-year hiatus and it's just gorgeous. The meanings of the lyrics, the beat, the sounds... everything flows so beautifully. Especiall...
