About Me

I'm a twenty-something year old student, traveler, wanderer, adventurer, eater, learner, poet, shopper, writer, reader -- just your average college graduate hailing from California who is endlessly searching for truth, happiness, purpose, and passion.

In Fall 2011, I was blessed with the opportunity and privilege to study abroad at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea. In part because of this life-changing experience, I have sought to change my life motto and experience the most out of the opportunities I am and have been given.

In Fall 2012, I studied abroad again, this time at the UC Paris Study Center in, you guessed it, Paris, France. This time, I experienced a home stay with a French family and was able to have a more in-depth view of French home life and culture. Not only did I pick up some great French, I was able to experience out-of-this-world food and cultural explorations.

In summer 2016, I made major life changes, starting with leaving my job in the education field. I ventured on a five week backpacking trip through Mexico with three friends followed by a solo trip to Lima, Peru and then with my sister to Cusco, Peru where I battled death (seriously!) on the Salkantay Trail to Macchu Picchu. During this two month adventure, I pushed myself beyond my physical and mental capabilities and I reminded myself of who exactly I aspire to be and re-evaluated my values and goals.

Because of my deep passion for travel and learning languages, I hope to have many adventures and opportunities doing both as well as figuring out my life on a whole, before I potentially commit myself to a life full of burdens or monotony.  while balancing a meaningful career that utilizes my unique skillset and passions.

Happy readings!

Things They Don't Tell You at Graduation

With my first graduation commencement ceremony this Saturday, I'm starting to get quite worked up. All the details of tickets and parking and dinner and calls and... man. It's complicated business. In light of that, I've been reading a lot. Fell upon this article the other day and it was pretty interesting. It's a list of ten things you aren't told at graduation... a few of my favorites (with bold red font and red font self-added for emphasis): 2. Some of your worst days lie ahead. Graduation is a happy day. But my job is to tell you that if you are going to do anything worthwhile, you will face periods of grinding self-doubt and failure. Be prepared to work through them. I'll spare you my personal details, other than to say that one year after college graduation I had no job, less than $500 in assets, and I was living with an elderly retired couple. The only difference between when I graduated and today is that now no one can afford to retire. ...

Obtainable Goals: Conquering the RSF & Food Finds & Forever21 order

I've decided to switch back or rather add some more easily obtainable goals. One of which is to try every single Group-X exercise class offered by the RSF (the campus gym) at least once by the end of the semester or at the very least, this summer -- although I must say, the caveat might be the aqua classes given I don't have swimwear here and classes in Hearst Gym.... In the past, I have tried: Bollywood -- quite fun but the steps can get complicated Cardio Kickboxing -- whew, what a work out, I couldn't even make it through the whole session Some yoga class but I can't remember which one -- it was so slow, I almost fell asleep This semester, I have tried: Nia -- quite fun, the instructor was super nice and it was a lot about grounding yourself and finding yourself Toning Express -- quite intense and quick too, only 30 minutes! This week alone, I have tried: Power Yoga -- Not bad, not too rigorous either -- there was a focus on aligning your breath with you...

Minor Update While Studying

As I'm currently in the middle of midterms (two midterm papers due in approx. 1.5 days), I don't really have an opportunity to sit and type, but just a minor update. Among my long list of things-to-do (which is still currently sitting in the draft section of my blog and is continually updated but yet to be posted), I've added the goal to be able to successfully sing(/rap...) one of Tablo's songs by the end of the semester. Epik High (the group of which Tablo is a rapper and leader of) was one of the first Korean artists that I was exposed to as a young 6th grader. It was love at first sound... I remember back in the days... Tablo is one of those completely talented, genius type folks that make me go "WOW". Anyways, I digress. He recently released his CD (pt 1, which I am buying asap along with part 2 probably) after a 2-year hiatus and it's just gorgeous. The meanings of the lyrics, the beat, the sounds... everything flows so beautifully. Especiall...
