Had a pretty amazing day today with Henry, Neha, and Hoai.
We started out the day pretty early (10AM!) and ventured to the Filipino Market in Hyehwa. I finally found the coconut juice I was desperately craving but I was disappointed by the lack of variety in food. Oh wells, my empanada and duron was still pretty tasty.
As we walked back to the subway, we learned that there was a street festival going on -- we got face-painted and with his ridiculous sniper skills, Henry won all of us prizes, huzzah! We listened to some live music, got free samples, and took pics of random peoples.
Side note: Only in S. Korea would a university group be able to sell alcoholic beverages to fundraise. Lols. Two of my friends were sipping Tequila Sunrises at 12:00PM because of that, haha.
After Hyehwa, we jumped back onto the subway and headed to Itaewon. Itaewon is supposed to be the foreigner's area of Seoul (in other words, the area where folks go to get their 'American fix'). It's also the site of Hooker Hill... which is basically Seoul's red light district. Because we were there much too early, there was no action going on...
We also found a Mexican restaurant, huzzah! Despite the rave reviews from the owner, I was extremely disappointed by the flavor of the meat in my steak burrito and taco... Oh wells.
We decided that we wanted to be adventurous and we were planning to randomly go to a subway stop and get lost... In the end, Insadong we went. Insadong is a fairly popular shopping and tourist location. I bought lots of snacks and a cute new scarf. We also took pictures dressed in hanboks (exciting!) and then decided to call it a day.
We headed back to Sinchon and SK Global, stopping at the Strawberry Restaurant for dinner. I had a chance to go to Hongdae and check out Club Naked (they were having a special event and I was on the guestlist), but I decided to pass since I have an early morning tomorrow. Oh wells. Maybe I am all partied out?
In any case, I am feeling a bit feverish. Note to self: Do not underestimate Korea's weather. It dropped ridiculously fast in the course of a few hours, and wearing shorts was a BAD idea.
Welcome to the family Thumper!!!!
